About Me

I have followed Jesus Christ (whose Hebrew name is Yeshua HaMashiach) for many years, pursuing God's truth and learning His ways. God's Word has been my compass, my shield, and my delight. To better understand the Scriptures in their original language, I began studying Biblical Hebrew. Since then, I have read the Bible like never before! Understanding familiar words more deeply has transformed my heart and life, leading me to reconsider many concepts.

I hold a PhD in second language acquisition and have spent my career teaching and researching language. The pen name Natan Dera combines two Hebrew words: natan (נתן), meaning "to give," and dera (דֶּרֶא), meaning "path" or "journey." Together, they reflect a "giving path," symbolizing my desire to share what I am learning from the Word.

This blog features two sections: the "Word by Word" section, where I delve into the meaning of Hebrew words in the Bible, and the "Walking in the Word" section, where I explore the weekly Torah portions and share reflections on their life lessons.

"I have no silver and gold, but what I do have, I give to you." (Acts 3:6). In the name of Yeshua HaMashiach, may you rise up and walk, growing  in faith, hope, love, and understanding.
